Accommodation is available for pilgrims in five hermitages (or cillins) which were purpose-built in 2000. Like the hermitages of old, they are slightly off the beaten track in a quiet and beautiful area adjacent to St. Kevin’s Church. The location is close to the village of Laragh and approximately 1 km from Glendalough Monastic Site and National Park. It is also at the foot of Brockagh Mountain where beautiful walks are available close at hand in a quiet and tranquil setting.

Each hermitage is situated close to but secluded from the others. This allows for both a sense of safety and of privacy. Guests are assured of as much solitude and privacy as they wish.

Each hermitage has..

  • A spacious bed/living room
  • A kitchenette
  • A shower-room/toilet

The hermitages are furnished in a simple but comfortable style and all fittings are modern. Towels, bed-linen and electric blanket are provided. Electric heating is included in the cost and logs are provided for a wood-burning stove.

Accommodation is on a self-catering basis. A small grocery store and two restaurants are located in the village which is within five minutes’ walk of the Centre. Tea/coffee/cooking oil are supplied and the tap water is suitable for drinking.

More information..

To allow guests to have a meaningful experience of solitude and silence, a minimum stay of two nights is required. There is no limit on longer stays.

Both single and twin-bedded hermitages are available.

Guests are free to make use of the facilities in the Coach House which include a beautifully appointed prayer room and a small but well-stocked library.

Guests are advised to bring clothing suitable for all weathers – warm clothes, rain gear, etc. At any time of year, we can have all four seasons in one day. It is also advisable to bring good walking shoes as the Centre is well placed for access to a large network of walks.
